Domus PictA Winery
Domus PictA – Northern Italy, Conegliano – Valdobbiadene region
The original and inspiring villa depicted on the labels of Prosecco bottles from Domus PictA winery has been the home of the Spagnol family for nearly 100 years.
The house stands on a hill above the winding Piave River. Its frescoes and history are rich with events from the early 1900s. The villa, which survived the world wars, was renovated in the 1980s by the family, bringing back the breathtaking decorations by Italian painter Guido Cadorin.

In 1923, Cadorin was commissioned to create a fresco for the parish of Vidor (“Sign of the Angel’s Resurrection”). He prepared a design of sgraffito decoration (a Renaissance plastering technique) covering all the villa’s walls, including a fresco frieze under the roof depicting the four seasons. Inspired by Veneto tradition, he created a work that was highly acclaimed and emphasized the charming character of the entire building. He invented the sgraffito on a sepia background with shades of green and yellow earth tones.
From these early origins, deep historical roots, and Veneto tradition, the Spagnol family decided it was time to share their love and passion for Prosecco.
The painting — domus picta (“painted house” in Latin) — fully embodies the newly born winery.
The connection with history, nature, and art is tangible, making it logical that what they had always done just for fun and friends, based on their creations since 1861, the year Italy was unified, was developed into Domus PictA. This winery celebrates that historic date, significant for creativity, good food, and design, embracing Italy’s history and tradition.
Although Domus PictA can be considered a young winery today, its roots go back to 1848, when Nonno Oni Spagnol discovered his passion for wine, love of Prosecco, and joy of vine growing. This passion has been passed down through generations.
The winery’s new headquarters is a properly renovated architectural masterpiece flourishing in the heart of Prosecco production in Valdobbiadene. Equipped with the latest technology, it is lovingly cared for by skilled and experienced technicians. The winery now offers nine high-quality products ranging from mid to premium levels.
Domus PictA currently produces nearly 800,000 bottles of wine annually, allowing us to enjoy fabulous Prosecco in the highest DOCG appellation from Valdobbiadene.
