What is prosecco?

Prosecco is an Italian sparkling wine made mainly from the Glera grape variety. It is known for its freshness, lightness, and pleasant fruity taste. The most famous area for Prosecco production is Valdobbiadene, located in the Veneto region of northern Italy. The vineyards in this area, situated on the slopes of the hills between the Dolomites and the Adriatic Sea, provide ideal conditions for growing this grape variety, which is harvested by hand and carefully processed. The Asolo area is another important producer of Prosecco in the Veneto region. This area is located near Valdobbiadene and is known for its elegant and delicate wines. Asolo Prosecco DOCG is a quality designation that guarantees high standards of production and origin for wines from this area. The winemaking tradition and favorable climate in Asolo contribute to the unique characteristics of this sparkling wine. Overall, Prosecco is an iconic Italian sparkling wine that has gained worldwide popularity for its freshness, lightness, and fruity character. Valdobbiadene and Asolo are important centers of production for this wine, and today, rosé Prosecco is also an interesting alternative that attracts with its unique color and taste.

Extra Dry

Although it is called "Extra Dry," it is actually a medium dry type. The slightly higher sugar content usually ranges between 12 and 17 grams of residual sugar per liter. This type of Prosecco has a subtle sweetness but is still considered dry.

Brut

It is also a relatively dry type of Prosecco, which has a slightly higher sugar content. It usually ranges between 6 and 12 grams of residual sugar per liter.

Extra Brut

It is the driest type of Prosecco and contains minimal sugar. It may have residual sugar of less than 6 grams per liter, which is almost imperceptible. It is not uncommon for Prosecco to have 0% residual sugar.
